12-pc MCM Royal Vale GOLD WHITE Tea Trios DESSERT SET FOR 4 Cups Saucers Plates

  
A mid-century modern gold-on-white vintage tea-time dessert or lunch set for four people from Royal Vale (England) in the pattern known as RVA81. Scalloped edges, with very shiny metallic-gold verge and panels.

Listing includes 4 three-piece place settings consisting of a cup, saucer and plate, for a total of 12 pieces. Four cups measuring 2 5/8" in height and 3 1/2" in diameter. Vintage : Royal Vale was manufactured by Ridgway Potteries for less than a decade, only from 1955 to 1964. Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully.

We often add graphics such as arrows, circles, and text boxes to our photos to point out things of interest that might be hard to see, such as a price tag or maker's mark, as well as to highlight many condition flaws. Very clean and fresh pieces, with bright and shiny metallic gold and white. All of the plates show light wear consisting only of completely colorless scratches to the glaze on the white body; a few scattered light scratches to the gold verge and trim and/or a few light rubs.

The plates are free of chips, cracks, gray/silver utensil marks, stains and crazing. All of the saucers are in near-mint to mint condition, showing zero to the lightest possible signs of use. The plates appear to be the only pieces that were ever used, as the cups are also near-mint to mint condition, with two exceptions -- one has a chip on the foot put there by us during the photo shoot! And another has some wear to the gold rim. A very nice set in great condition, really, with the exception of the chipped footed cup, sigh.

We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report.
